The 2017 theme of International Women’s Day is #BeBoldForChange. Here at VarageSale, we’re all about celebrating the life-changing achievements of strong women. After all, our app was started by one such woman!
In honour of the day, we’re listing some of our favourite apps that were made by bold, badass ladies forging their way through the tech sector. Here are five apps that you’ll want to clear space on your phone for.
1) Clue is the no-nonsense period tracking app that helps you discover unique patterns in your cycle. Founded by Ida Tin, this Berlin-based startup cites diversity as one of its core design principles.
2) Moonlite is a magical bedtime story app that uses your cell phone light to project story images onto the ceiling or wall. Created and prototyped by Natalie Rebot, a mother/software engineer, the app and device make reading more fun and immersive for little ones.
3) Maven is a digital health and wellness clinic designed specifically for women. Developed by Katherine Ryder, the app instantly connects you with experts in areas like mental health, reproduction, maternity, and children’s health.
4) Started by not one but TWO women, Winnie helps you find kid-friendly locations nearby. Built by technologists Sara Mauskopf and Anne Halsall, the community directory app is like a collection of Yelp reviews organized specifically for parents.
Did you know that over 50% of women don’t buy and sell online because they fear it’s too risky? By making people feel safe transacting with strangers, VarageSale empowers women to be confident and independent.
Created by teacher/mompreneur Tami Zuckerman, our founder is one cool, fearless and innovative woman. Today and every day, we’re happy and proud to celebrate her and all the other women who dare to #BeBoldForChange.
